• Specific DOT and ECE versions: shells are developed separately according to DOT and ECE requirements; in the DOT-certified version, the inner shell incorporates a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner to maximize impact protection.
• Customizable fit: the fit can be tailored to the rider’s head thanks to the crown pad and cheek pads, available as spare parts in different thicknesses for a more precise and comfortable hold.
• YM/YL growth system: Youth Medium (YM) and Youth Large (YL) sizes share the same EPS size, making it possible to start with a YM helmet and later convert it to Youth Large as the rider grows, using replacement crown and cheek pads.
• YS-specific fit: Youth Small (YS) size uses a smaller EPS and can only be customized with cheek pads; extensive research by Alpinestars has shown that YS wearers are usually very young children, typically 3 to 4 years old, and therefore require a specific helmet fit.
• NEW ALPINESTARS SAFETY STANDARD: Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 Youth to subject the chin bar to more demanding conditions than the homologation standard; to meet the new Alpinestars standards, both the shell thickness and the actual design structure of the chin bar area have been optimized to provide superior impact performance.
• Equipped with an Emergency Release System and removable cheek pads that allow the cheek pads to be safely and easily removed while the helmet remains in place.
